Incredible photos from the Battle of the Bulge, some in color, taken during Nazi Germany’s last-ditch effort to drive back Allied forces between December 1944 and January 1945. Pictured here: “An American Sherman M4 tank moves past another gun carriage that slid off icy road in the Ardennes Forest during push to halt advancing German troops.”

Braincar by Dutch artist Olaf Mooij is an art car with a giant brain atop the back half of the vehicle. Cameras on the car capture photos and video of its daytime travels. At night, the car “dreams” a video remix of the day’s footage, projecting the imagery on to the giant brain.

Built in 2005, “Braincar” is now on display in Karlsruhe, Germany at the Center for Art and Media through January 2012.”

True fact: in 2005 I co-wrote a screenplay with a friend, a ridiculous comedy about U.S. Open ball boys, set in 1984 and the present. It’s called BALL BOYS. And it’s funny. Like, really funny — I mean, start with the name: Comedy gold!
Anyway. Nobody optioned it. I still have it if anyone cares to pay me large sums of money for it. It’s the perfect Judd Apatow/Will Ferrel/Paul Rudd/Jonah Hill vehicle.

For this week’s Goings On About Town opener, Gus Powell photographed the U.S. Open ball-person tryouts, which took place earlier this summer. Click through for more pictures of the tryouts.
