Well this history of Newsweek's turmoil is exhausting to even read. PTSD, man.

Reblogging only to add that all of this happened after I left Newsweek in late 2008 and while it certainly sounds more interesting/dramalicious than the gradual drain-circling I was on hand to witness, I am so, so glad I jumped that particular ship when I did. A colleague of mine left Newsweek to join the Daily Beast before the merger. He said when the two merged he felt as if he had escaped a burning building only to turn around to see it chasing after him.
