When I was a kid, I never liked receiving presents. It took me years to figure out why.

Now, I have a new birthday tradition: If you want to get me a present, instead, pick something you’ve been wanting to work on— something you’ve been wanting to create, selfishly, indulgently, for yourself— and spend some time imagining it, working on it, creating it, making SOME small finished version of it. (You can always improve it later)

And then share it with me, however rough it is, and that will be my birthday present. :)
